Background
Located in a beautiful campus in the heart of Dublin’s city centre, Trinity is Ireland’s highest ranked university. It is home to 17,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students across all the major disciplines in the arts and humanities, and in business, law, engineering, science, and health sciences.
At Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin we provide a liberal environment where independence of thought is highly valued and all are encouraged to achieve their potential. We promote a diverse, interdisciplinary, inclusive environment which nurtures ground-breaking research, innovation, and creativity through engaging with issues of global significance.
How could this affect me?
The campus is bigger than you might be used to at school or further education college and getting lost is common for new students and when timetables change. Becoming familiar with key buildings and locations may help you to prepare. An interactive map is available in the Locations and Directions section of this website.
Although most students attend lectures in the main cirty centre campus, if you are studying Medicine or Nursing and Midwifery, for example, you may spend a lot of your time off campus in local hospitals and also in locations such as the Biomedical Sciences Institute. Other students may be studying for degrees in The Lir, Ireland’s national academy of dramatic arts, which offers three undergraduate, three postgraduate and short courses in acting, technical theatre, voice, movement and audition techniques. Situated in Grand Canal Quay, it is a 15 minute walk from the city centre.
